This coffee comes from the Jaén and San Ignacio provinces of Cajamarca, the third-largest coffee region in northern Peru. The region consists entirely of the Andes mountain range. High altitudes, lush jungles, and fertile soil create ideal coffee growing conditions. The average temperature here is 24 °C.
Aprocassi is a coffee cooperative of 32 producers in the Cajamarca region, created in 2000 and focused on continuous self-improvement. It prioritizes gender equality engaging younger generations, and trains community leaders to make better business decisions that contribute to community development.
Aprocassi also works to mitigate climate change and preserve local biological ecosystems. One such initiative of the cooperative is a reforestation project in which they cultivate seedlings on the farms of producer partners in Jaén and San Ignacio.
